Why Notion AI alone is not always enough
Notion AI operates within the Notion ecosystem. It can search your workspace and answer questions based on your pages, but it cannot help you in ChatGPT when you want to use a different model for a specific task. It also cannot combine Notion data with local files, code, or web research in a single prompt.
When you need to bring your Notion content to an external AI, the manual process is slow: open each page, copy the content, paste it, go back for the next one. For a workspace with project documentation, meeting notes, and research wikis, this quickly becomes a time sink.
The workflow: Export the relevant Notion pages as Markdown (Notion > Export > Markdown & CSV). Open the exported folder in Riflet. Select the pages you need, bundle them, and paste the result into any AI chat. No API keys, no integrations, no configuration.
Step-by-step: Notion to AI context
Export from Notion
In Notion, select the pages or database you want to include. Click the three-dot menu and choose "Export." Select "Markdown & CSV" as the format. Notion produces a zip file with your content as Markdown files.
Open the export folder in Riflet
Unzip the Notion export and open the folder in Riflet. You will see all your pages organized with their original hierarchy. Select the ones relevant to your current AI task.
Add other sources if needed
On the Pro plan, you can combine your Notion export with local files, web pages, or GitHub repos in the same bundle. This lets you create a comprehensive context file that covers your entire project, not just what is in Notion.
Export and use with any AI
Riflet produces a single structured Markdown file. Paste or upload it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any other tool. The AI sees your Notion content as organized, readable text with clear page boundaries.
Combine Notion with other knowledge sources
Most teams do not keep everything in Notion. You likely have local documents, code in GitHub, design specs in Google Docs, and research in PDFs. Riflet lets you bring all these sources together into one AI context bundle. Instead of the AI only seeing your Notion data, it gets the full picture of your project.
No API keys, no accounts, no cloud
Riflet processes your exported Notion files locally on your computer. There are no API keys to set up, no Notion integration to authorize, and no data sent to Riflet's servers. The export-and-bundle approach keeps your workspace content under your control from start to finish.
